International Masters of Excellence Scholarships at the University of Waterloo: International students are encouraged to apply for the International Masters of Excellence (IMAE) Award at the University of Waterloo, Canada. The scholarship is evaluated for a maximum of five full-time periods within the permitted program limits for international students who normally enter a research-oriented graduate program at the University of Waterloo.
The faculties will nominate eligible students based on the faculty’s awarding of prizes. Students will be selected on the basis of their academic excellence, as demonstrated by their application for admission to the graduate program. Interested international students are encouraged to apply before the application deadline.

Scholarship Eligibility and Selection Criteria: To be considered for the International Excellence Masters Scholarships at the University of Waterloo, applicants must ensure that they meet the following criteria:
International students with a valid Canadian study permit who are enrolled full-time and international tuition fees are assessed.
It is normally given to students in research-based programs (thesis or major research work).
As a rule, it will only be awarded to students entering the first period of their program (period 1.0).
Students must demonstrate their academic excellence using criteria established by the Faculty.
Students must meet the academic progression requirements of their program and not have any outstanding test admission requirements.
This award could be in addition to other internal or external scholarships (e.g. UW Graduate Scholarship, OGS, etc.). Note: scholarships are different from sponsorships.
Normally, students should not be concurrently sponsored by a foreign government or agency (e.g. China Scholarship Council, Libya Sponsorship, etc.) or be fully or partially self-funded beyond minimum support levels of the Faculty.
Students with grandparents under the existing IMSA program cannot be nominated for an IMAE; However, a student who has already obtained an IMSA for an already completed master’s degree may be nominated for an IMAE.
Students will automatically be considered for this award based on their admission request. The departments and / or the faculty will define their own internal process by which they will select the beneficiaries according to the eligibility and assignment criteria.
Schools may impose more stringent eligibility criteria, if applicable.
